Local Artists Exhibit Opens Web Master | February 2, 2012 Marconi Calindas, “Planting the Tree (of Knowledge)”, acrylic on canvas. January 23, 2012 A new exhibition in the Outside the Box, Inside the Frame series opens today featuring works of Marconi Calindas, Aaron Molinksy, and Edwin Bertolet, the winners of the Menlo College Plein Air Art Show. The collection will be on display until March 5, 2012 in the Administration Building. “These are 3 completely different artists, and the diversity of their styles and subject matter help us to appreciate our creative community,” said Yasmin Lambie-Simpson, Dean of Student Affairs and a member of the Art Committee. “We are a business school, and it is important to exhibit the many faces of the human experience to aid in the development of the whole student.” “My art in general attempts to show beauty in diversity,” commented Calindas, who won the first place in the Menlo College Plein Air Art Show. “I have created three new pieces for Menlo College and I want to express with these new pieces that learning and the thirst for knowledge should be endless for more innovation and progress.” All three artists participated in the third annual “Images of Menlo” Art Exhibit in October 2011, which showcased works by local painters as well as Menlo students celebrating the natural beauty of the campus. The art exhibit is free and open to the public until Monday, March 5. A reception for the exhibit will take place on Thursday, February 2, from 5 to 7 p.m.
