The Finance Major at Menlo College is designed for students aiming for careers in corporate finance, banking, venture capital, or financial markets. Given the quantitative nature of finance, a strong background in mathematics is essential. The global finance industry presents exciting career opportunities, including roles in financial services, venture capital, corporate finance, banking, consulting, and financial markets. To prepare for these careers, students can focus on entrepreneurial finance, corporate finance, banking, investments, and real estate.

The Finance curriculum at Menlo College combines real-world trends, technological advancements, and foundational financial theory with hands-on internship experiences. This approach ensures that students are well-prepared to navigate the evolving financial landscape.

The program introduces students to key financial theories and their real-world applications, showing how financial markets and institutions operate while familiarizing students with best practices. By blending theory with practice, the Finance Major prepares graduates for successful careers in various financial fields.

Required courses (12 units)

Elevate your career in finance by completing the following courses required for Finance majors:

  • FIN 321: Advanced Corporate Finance
  • FIN 330: Investments
  • FIN 335/RLS 335: Financial Modeling
  • FIN 336: Money and Capital Markets

Required internship courses (6 units)

Gain hands-on experience with a required internship and courses associated with that experience:

  • MGT 300: Exploring Menlo Pathways (1 unit)*
  • MGT 301: Internship Preparation (1 unit)
  • INT 499: Internship in Major Field (4 units) (Completed in the Summer)
    *Can be waived for transfer students.

Elective courses (12 units)

Choose four elective courses to deepen your expertise:
