INSY 504: Business Application of Data Science and Information Systems

Students will learn the key aspects, concepts, and techniques for how to leverage data and analytics to power operational decisions and business strategies. These concepts will be reinforced and strengthened with group exercises and workshops. Students will learn about examples to power business models, advanced analytic and data science concepts (AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning), and how to apply these technologies in real-world situations. Students will also learn design thinking concepts and how those concepts drive organizational alignment to identify, validate, value, and prioritize the use cases against which advanced analytics could be applied. Finally, students will gain hands-on experience in calculating the economic value of the organization’s data and analytic digital assets.
