INSY 505: Data Governance, Technoethics, and Responsibility

Unit(s): 3

In today’s information economy, data is a strategic organizational asset. Therefore, it must be managed as such. Data governance is the foundation upon which all enterprise information policies and initiatives are built. It stems from the collaborative and shared responsibility between business and information technologies that support a firm’s performance. Data is the fundamental currency of the digital era we operate within. How data is collected, aggregated, shared, analyzed, and monetized drives the future of business and society. How an organization engages in data governance, ethics, and responsibility has critical influences on its effectiveness as well as its reputation. This course instructs students in effective data governance practices and the necessary understanding of the ethical aspects associated with the collection and use of data.
