Biography

Hailing from coastal North Carolina, LaShonda Kennedy combines a background in corporate human resources and project management with a passion for education and community engagement. After transitioning her expertise in Lean facilitation and project management to public-school and community college systems, she spearheaded the creation and implementation of the Work Experience Education program at College of San Mateo, where she served as the lead instructor. In this role, she assisted students in securing internships and provided guidance to help them integrate academic learning with real-world experiences.

LaShonda’s recent publication, Kennedy, L. & Schmiede, A. (2024). Career Services as an Integral Component to Institutional Success. In Powers, K. (Ed.), The Power of Strategic Accreditation: Driving Institutional Impact (pp. 275-300) explores the role of strategic accreditation in higher education impact. She is deeply committed to student success, aiming to connect today’s learners to tomorrow’s careers through mentorship and advocacy. Her dedication extends beyond the classroom, as she actively serves on multiple boards and non-profit committees at local, national, and international levels.
