Originally from Oakland, California, Prof. Sean Hennigan draws deeply from the Bay Area’s diversity of perspectives in both his teaching and research. After earning his M.A. in Psychology from San Francisco State University, Sean pursued multiple research projects at the University of California San Francisco and San Francisco State University. His work has explored topics including the developmental impacts of social class discrimination in adolescents, the role of social support networks in promoting LGBTQIA+ health and well-being, and the development of AI gaming tools to promote healthier substance use behaviors.
In addition to his research, Sean has taught at several institutions across the Bay Area, including Menlo College, San Francisco State University, and Skyline College with an emphasis on quantitative methods and applied research. His teaching philosophy is rooted in an experiential, student-centered approach that emphasizes hands-on learning tailored to each student’s unique interests.
Outside of the classroom, Sean enjoys attending the theater, engaging in creative writing, and training with the Academy of Ballet in San Francisco.
