Program Requirements for Undergraduate International Students

International students at Menlo will join either the Degree Program or the Intensive English Program.

The Degree Program is for you if you:

  • have previously studied at a school where the language of instruction is English (or)
  • have a score of 537 or more on the TOEFL PBT (or)
  • have 74 or more on the TOEFL IBT (or)
  • have 6.5 or more on the IELTS (no band below 6.0) (or)
  • have an SAT total score greater than 890 (or)
  • have an ACT composite score greater than 16 (or)
  • have passed Eiken “Grade Pre-1” (or)
  • have a Duolingo English score that is greater than 100

The Intensive English Program is for you if you:

  • are intermediate and upper-intermediate English language learner who is interested in developing your English language skills while participating in college life (and)
  • have the TOEFL PBT score between 450 and 536 (or)
  • have the TOEFL IBT score between 51 and 73 (or)
  • have the IELTS score between 5.5 and 6.0 (no band below 5.0) (or)
  • have an SAT total score less than 890 (or)
  • have an ACT composite score less than 16 (or)
  • have a Duolingo English score that is less than 100

Application Requirements

It’s never too early to apply for admission.

  1. Submit your free online application. You are encouraged to complete the Menlo College Express Application to fast-track your admissions decision. You are also welcome to apply using the Common Application.
  2. Submit your transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended. If you intend to transfer units to Menlo College, you must have your transcripts evaluated by SpanTran Pathway, WES or Incred.
  3. A personal essay and a letter of recommendation are not required, but proof of English Language Proficiency or English assessment via virtual or in-person interview by Menlo College is required.
