Business Analytics – Minor

Business Analytics

The Business Analytics Minor prepares students for positions involving data management, visualization, descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive modeling, and communication of business insights across a variety of industries. The minor’s mission is to be responsive to serving our students with relevant and practical learning experiences essential in an ever- changing and complex economy.

The Business Analytics minor requires 12 units. Students do not need to earn more than 120 units towards the degree to earn the minor.

TIER ONE: THE FOLLOWING COURSES ARE REQUIRED (9 UNITS)

  • BSA 315: Introduction to Business Analytics
  • BSA 316: Coding for Analytics
  • BSA 319: Data Visualization and Business Insight

TIER TWO: CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING COURSES: (3 UNITS)

  • BSA 320: The Art of Thinking Like a Data Scientist
  • BSA 401: Digital Transformation
  • BSA 402: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
  • BSA 410: Silicon Valley Immersion
  • BSA 420: Technoethics and Responsibility
  • BSA S: Special Topics in Business Analytics
  • ENI 403: Design Thinking
  • MGT 309: Role of Blockchain in Business Model Innovation
  • MKT 335: Marketing Research

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Students will be able to apply analytic models and appropriate statistical techniques to make well-informed business decisions.
  • Designing for Insights: Students will be able to create, collect, organize, and analyze datasets using both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
  • Communicating Actionable Insights and Applications: Students will be able to communicate, present, and visualize the results of their data analyses.
