The Sports Analytics minor bridges two of Menlo College’s existing programs in Sports Management and Business Analytics. This interdisciplinary program aims to instill an understanding of Sports Analytics, offering exposure to foundational knowledge, insights into industry challenges, and hands-on experience with analytical approaches. Students will be prepared to navigate the intersection of these two fields and specifically make well-informed decisions related to Sports Analytics. After completing the Sports Analytics minor, students will be able to use cutting-edge tools and methodologies to address current challenges in the sports industry, preparing them for roles such as sports data analysts, performance consultants, and strategic advisors.
1. Foundational Knowledge of Sports Analytics: Students will develop a well-rounded understanding of the fundamental principles, concepts, and methodologies underpinning the field of sports analytics.
2. Analytical Approaches in Sports Organizations and the Broader Industry: Students will acquire an understanding of advanced analytical approaches within sports organizations and the broader industry, emphasizing data-driven strategies for decision-making and performance enhancement in areas such as game strategy optimization, player health and safety analytics, fan base development, and financial performance modeling.
The Sports Analytics minor requires 12 units.
