Position Overview:

The Menlo College Athletics Department seeks applications for the position of Director & Head Coach of NCWA Wrestling Club – Men’s & Women’s Teams. This is a full-time, 11-month, exempt position, and reports to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Club Sports, Intramural and Recreation.  The description of responsibilities below is intended to be a descriptive but not necessarily all-inclusive list of responsibilities.

The Director & Head Coach of NCWA Wrestling Club – Men’s & Women’s Teams is responsible for the recruitment and retention of student-athletes and program development to produce successful individual and team performance. The individual must be committed to a holistic approach to developing student-athletes as leaders in the classroom, in the community, and on the court.

The Director & Head Coach of NCWA Wrestling Club – Men’s & Women’s Teams must be able to provide leadership, management, and strategic planning for the Men’s & Women’s NCWA Wrestling Club program.  That includes budgeting, fundraising, staffing and staff development, supervision of program implementation, facilities planning and management, and evaluation of program effectiveness.

The position will abide by all the Non-NCAA Club Sport Rules, and Menlo College Athletics Department rules and regulations.  Failure to follow Non-NCAA Club Sport Rules or Menlo College rules will result in my immediate dismissal from all duties.

Responsibilities:

The following is intended to be a descriptive but not necessarily all-inclusive list of responsibilities.

  • Provide leadership in responding to student needs and College issues related to Menlo’s athletics program.
  • Effectively coordinate the recruitment of student-athletes according to Menlo College admission standards and policies established by the College.
  • Establish a written set of aims, goals, objectives, and values for the NCWA Wrestling Club programs.
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities for self and staff relating to coaching and recruiting strategies and techniques for the purpose of enhancing the program’s competitiveness and the development of student-athletes.
  • Actively promote, publicize, and enhance a positive image for Menlo College.
  • Determine budget requirements for maintaining and developing the NCWA Wrestling Club programs; control spending and monitor the budget.
  • Assure that staff and student-athletes comply with appropriate Menlo and Non- NCAA policies and regulations.
  • Evaluate and recommend revisions to policies regarding travel, schedules and other issues related to the NCWA Wrestling Club program.
  • Develop a comprehensive plan to foster community service projects, academic success, campus engagement and character development.
  • Manage, supervise, and develop the NCWA Wrestling Club coaching staff; conduct annual performance evaluations of staff.

Accountability:

Accountable for assisting in the overall management of the Athletics Department, including administrative duties and the care and leadership of the NCWA Wrestling Club. The Director & Head Coach of NCWA Wrestling Club – Men’s & Women’s Teams must abide by all applicable Non-NCAA, and Menlo College Athletics Department rules and regulations.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred in related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills as well as written and oral communication skills.
  • A thorough knowledge of Non-NCAA rules and regulations.
  • 3-5 years coaching experience at the intercollegiate level.
  • Intramural programming for the campus.
  • Outdoor Education/Adventure programming for campus.
  • Marketing, Communication, and Sports Information Specific to CIR (website and social media).
  • Design and Implement a Health and Wealth programming for the campus (students, staff, and faculty).
  • Organize and manage fitness programming.
  • Manage Campus Fitness Center.
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Athletics for Club Sports, Intramural and Recreation with budget operations and management for Club Sports, Intramural and Recreation.
  • Assist with compliance for the department.
  • Equipment manager for Club Sports, Intramural and Recreation.
  • A dedication to the success of student-athletes in their academic and athletic endeavors, and a commitment to integrity, general equity, and diversity.
  • Ability to supervise, direct, and manage the NCWA Wrestling Club program.
  • Ability to work non-traditional schedules, including nights and weekends.
  • Prior fund-raising experience preferred.
