Menlo seeks an outstanding teacher for a full-time open rank position in Psychology beginning August 2026. A PhD (completion by June 2026) in psychology or a related field is required. We seek candidates who could also serve as Director of the College’s Master of Arts in Sport and Performance Psychology (MASPP) program. A successful candidate should also have an active research program and a record of published scholarship appropriate to the desired rank.
Menlo College is primarily an undergraduate business college, but Psychology is the most popular individual major, currently serving 18% of students. The College also offers the MASPP.
Preference will be given to candidates able to offer courses currently required for the major, including PSY 400 Empirical Research Methods and Evaluation and PSY 401 Senior Thesis. Potential areas of expertise include clinical psychology, cognitive psychology, political psychology, or sports psychology, but are not limited to these specific topics.
Menlo College is on a semester system, and the teaching load is 4-4. New faculty will be given a reduced teaching load of 3-3 their first year. All faculty receive long-term contracts; Menlo College does not offer tenure.
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of effective undergraduate and graduate teaching as the instructor of record. Candidates must be able and qualified to teach classes at the undergraduate and master’s level in Psychology. They must also possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work in a collaborative and collegial environment. Preferred candidates will have an active record of scholarship related to their specialty area and documented excellence in both teaching and scholarship.
The position requires undergraduate and master’s level teaching in Psychology, mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students, and active ongoing engagement in shared governance and other service assignments at the college level, including assessment of learning. The position reports directly to the Dean of Arts & Sciences but will coordinate with other Psychology faculty as appropriate to support the degree.
The successful candidate should have an earned doctorate in Psychology or in a related field from a reputable university in hand prior to the start of the fall 2026 semester (August 2026).

Menlo College offers a four-year undergraduate program with a variety of majors in Business and Psychology, and three master’s degrees. The curriculum of the undergraduate school is designed to prepare students for careers while integrating their studies within a liberal arts foundation. The College is in Silicon Valley, which allows students a variety of internship experiences and real-world learning. Menlo is a small but growing school (~830 enrollment) that offers small classes that allow close interaction between faculty and students.
