Menlo seeks an outstanding teacher for a full-time, 10-month open rank position in Psychology beginning August 2026. A PhD (completion by June 2026) in psychology or a related field is required for appointments at rank. A successful candidate at rank should also have an active research program and a record of published scholarship appropriate to the desired rank.
Menlo College is primarily an undergraduate business college, but Psychology is the most popular individual major, currently serving 21% of students. The College also offers a Master of Arts degree in sport and performance psychology (MASPP) that is closely aligned with the undergraduate Psychology program.
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of effective teaching as the instructor of record that demonstrates their ability to offer courses currently required for the undergraduate major and the MASPP program. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in clinical psychology but will consider candidates with other areas of expertise, including but not limited to cognitive psychology, political psychology, or sports psychology, We would be particularly interested in candidates able to integrate innovative uses of AI into their psychology classes, such as immersing students in realistic training simulations, enhancing data analysis skills, and/or fostering critical ethical thinking via simulated patient interactions in a clinical setting.
Menlo College is on a semester system, and the teaching load is 4-4. New faculty of rank will be given a reduced teaching load of 3-3 their first year. All faculty of rank receive longterm contracts; Menlo College does not offer tenure.
Candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work in a collaborative and collegial environment. Preferred candidates will have an active record of scholarship related to their specialty area and documented excellence in both teaching and scholarship.
The position requires undergraduate and master’s level teaching in Psychology, mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students, and active ongoing engagement in shared governance and other service assignments at the college level, including assessment of learning. The position reports directly to the Dean of Arts & Sciences but will coordinate with other Psychology faculty as appropriate to support the degree.
For appointments at rank, the successful candidate should have an earned doctorate in Psychology or in a related field from a reputable university in hand prior to the start of the fall 2026 semester (August 2026).

Menlo College offers a four-year undergraduate program with a variety of majors in Business and Psychology, and three master’s degrees. The curriculum of the undergraduate school is designed to prepare students for careers while integrating their studies within a liberal arts foundation. The College is in Silicon Valley, which allows students a variety of internship experiences and real-world learning. Menlo is a small but growing school (~810 enrollment) that offers classes sized to allow close interaction between faculty and students.
