Student Success Coordinator

Reports to:Associate Director for Transfer Student Success

Position Type:Half-time position (20 hours / week), not eligible for full benefits

Compensation:$33 / hour. This half-time position is funded by a federal grant

Position Summary

The half-time Student Success Coordinator recruits, trains, and supervises Peer Student Success Coaches and provides general support to the Student Success Network. The Coordinator helps manage virtual and physical traffic in the Student Success Center. The Coordinator partners with Academic Affairs, Internships & Career Services, Academic Support Services, International Student Services, Financial Aid, and Admissions to ensure that Peer Student Success Coaches can effectively support a holistic student success model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and mentor Peer Student Success Coaches (PSSC).
  • Optimize and maintain PSSC schedule to support the needs of students and the Student Success Network. Ensure that student worker hours align with the budget, and approve payroll time cards for PSSCs.
  • Coordinate and provide ongoing training and feedback to PSSCs.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, Financial Aid, and Student Affairs to ensure the successful onboarding of new students, using a holistic approach.
  • Manage intake and support or make appropriate referrals so that students can successfully register for courses, understand and accept financial aid, settle their student account balances, receive career guidance, or resolve barriers to student success.
  • Create and facilitate events to support specific student populations (e.g., transfer students, commuter students).
  • Create and maintain a student-centric, welcoming environment in the Student Success Center.
  • Complete special projects for the Associate Director of Transfer Student Success, the Executive Director of Advising & Retention, and the Director of Financial Aid.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, business or related field.
  • Minimum one year of experience supporting student success in a high school or college setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to identify priorities.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, including active listening, public speaking, and team building.
  • Proficiency with technology, including student information systems, social media, and office software.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required to support student events and programs.
  • Must be eligible to access Department of Education and Federal Student Aid websites and databases.
