FINT 504: Financial Modeling

The objective for this course is to develop the financial modeling skills used in the application of financial theory to practical problems in investment analysis, portfolio management, and valuation. In particular, the course will cover the application of Excel spreadsheet functions to the statistical analysis of financial market data, the use of modern portfolio theory to determine mean-­‐variance efficient allocations of financial assets, the valuation and risk assessment of fixed income. Additional topics include active portfolio management theory, application of simulation and retirement planning (Monte Carlo method), and the bond portfolio immunization. Emphasis would be on the Fintech firms as applicable.
