FINT 505: Money and Capital Markets

Financial Technology (Fintech) particularly on a global basis, is a rapidly changing technological applications in monetary policy, payment and clearing systems, money center financial institutions, securities brokerage and clearing houses, and use by multinational corporations. This course focuses on rapid changes in financial institutions and capital markets being driven by start-up companies and other large institutions looking to develop and adopt the latest FinTech technologies. Central Banks, financial institutions and capital market players are adopting high-tech processes and products designed to accelerate financial institutional and capital market innovation. The speed of development and deployment is being leveraged by a collapse costs, faster speeds, infinite storage. Institutional and retail clients are demanding higher levels of engagement. Multi-National Corporations (MNC), Hedge Funds, Venture Capital, Private Equity, Investment and Commercial Banking, Securities Exchanges and Regulatory Agencies are adopting to rapid change and high competition, diving governments to try to limit monopoly and oligopoly positions along with social and economic impacts. This course develops students psychological, technical and managerial skills to develop, manage and deploy FinTech financial institutional products and process based on solid theoretical and applied knowledge. The goal is to make each student an expert in FinTech applications to monetary policy, central banking, payments and clearing systems, exchange based systems, and how new product and process will impact financial institutions, global corporations, and capital markets.
