Biography

Dr. Carolynn Hobbs (she/her) specializes in sport psychology, athlete well-being, and youth sport culture. Her research explores the intersection of mental performance and thriving among elite youth athletes, with a recent focus on competitive cheerleading. She has taught courses in sport psychology, health education, and diversity in sport, and has worked extensively in both academic and athletic environments. Dr. Hobbs brings over a decade of coaching and administrative experience in youth sports, including roles in athlete wellness, mental performance training, and leadership development. Her scholarship is informed by practical experience, emphasizing applied sport psychology and athlete-centered programming. She earned her Ph.D. in Human Performance from Middle Tennessee State University, an M.A. in Kinesiology from San Jose State University, and a B.A. in Psychology from Sonoma State University.
