Senior Director, Learning and Talent Development for Stanford’s Residential & Dining Enterprises at Stanford University

Biography

Dr. Emma Gordon, Ph.D., MBA is a transformational and results-oriented HR leader in higher education. She skillfully integrates HR and business strategy that create leadership development programs that drive sustainable human systems performance. Some of her areas of expertise and passion include strategic planning, program development, change management, restorative justice, DEIB, and soft skills.

As the current Senior Director, Learning and Talent Development for Stanford’s Residential & Dining Enterprises and HR consultant for Stanford’s School of Medicine, she collaborates and aligns organizational mission, vision, values, and strategies to optimize employee engagement and experience.

Dr. Gordon combines theory and practice to design learning programs to enhance organizational effectiveness. She has a keen eye for organizational pain points and applies best practice interventions. Serving as a Stanford Manager Academy coach, she has supported many managers in their professional growth and career development .Dr. Gordon is a senior adjunct faculty and teaches HR Management courses at Menlo College. In 2014, she received Menlo College’s “Spirit of Teaching Award”—which exemplifies her passion as an educator.
Dr. Gordon served as board president for College University Professional Association for HR (CUPA-HR) for Northern & Central California Chapter. Currently, she serves on the board for “JobTrain,”-a non-profit education organization that offers individuals a “second change.”

Dr. Gordon graduated from the University of California Berkeley with her BS, Nutritional Sciences/Biochemistry. She earned her MBA from JFK University and her Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from Alliant University, Marshall Goldsmith School of Organizational Management Studies.
