Neal Rubin is Professor in Residence at Menlo College, where he teaches public speaking, business communication, mock trial and speech and debate courses.
Professor Rubin is an attorney who advises technology companies on intellectual property issues. Prior to joining Menlo College, he was Vice President of Litigation at Cisco Systems, responsible for managing the company’s intellectual property, commercial and employment disputes, and government investigations. While at Cisco, Professor Rubin testified on patent issues before the U.S. House of Representatives, spoke at the White House on how companies can partner with law enforcement on anti-counterfeit efforts, and managed cases before the United States Supreme Court.
Prior to joining Cisco, Professor Rubin was Assistant United States Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice. He began his legal career with McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enersen, where his practice focused on intellectual property and technology disputes.
Professor Rubin earned his BA with Honors in political science from Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Southern California Law School. Professor Rubin and his wife, Amy, have two adult children who live and work in New York City.
