Advice for prospective students

Ask questions, build relationships, and don’t try to figure it all out alone. College is more than academics; it is about community, growth, and discovering what truly drives you.

Why did I choose Menlo?

As an international transfer student, I wanted a place where I wouldn’t get lost in the crowd. Menlo stood out for its personalized support and how genuinely people took the time to get to know me. That sense of belonging made all the difference. The generous scholarships available to transfer and international students were also key in making my education possible.

My favorite things to do in the surrounding area

I love spending time outdoors, whether it is walking through downtown Menlo Park, going for a quick hike, or relaxing in a cozy café. The area has the perfect blend of natural beauty and small-town charm.

My favorite spot on campus

The quad is my favorite spot. It is where you feel the pulse of campus life. Whether there is a student event or I am just walking my dog, Bruno Mars, it always feels like a welcoming place to connect, unwind, or recharge.

Fun Fact(s) About Me:

I’m trilingual (English, Portuguese, and Spanish), and I’ve lived in both hemispheres, growing up in the south of Brazil and now living in the U.S. I graduated as valedictorian of my class at Menlo College, which was a proud moment for me. I have been working at Menlo for 17 years, not counting my years as a student, which has deepened my connection to this community. I deeply care about community and volunteer my time in many ways, starting with supporting events at Menlo College, including some of my favorite volunteer moments like Late Night Breakfast and Career Connect Day. I also serve on the West Valley and Mission Colleges Business and Accounting Advisory Board, manage a youth soccer team, help out at my child’s elementary school, and serve on the MPAEF Board Foundation. It is incredibly rewarding to encourage students and others to grow and succeed through higher education and community engagement. I love anything that involves collaboration, strategy, and helping others thrive, whether at work or beyond.

Campus resources I believe are especially valuable for students

Career Services is a game-changer, especially for transfer students exploring their next step. International Student Services is invaluable, helping students navigate everything from visas to cultural adjustment. I always recommend the Student Success Center for academic support and the Oak Shack, where students can pick up food and hygiene essentials at no cost. It is a thoughtful resource that reflects how much Menlo truly cares about student well-being.
