Born and bred in the Bay Area, Dr. Sean Pradhan has built a career combining sport management, psychology, and analytics. After completing his doctorate at the University of Michigan, he began as a project associate at NASA Ames Research Center in the Fatigue Countermeasures Laboratory as part of the San José State University Research Foundation – NASA Human Factors Cooperative Agreement. He has also taught sport management and research methods at the University of Michigan, as well as statistics, survey design, and research writing at San José State University.
Dr. Pradhan’s research program takes an interdisciplinary approach to sport management. His recent work has analyzed team and player performance in the National Basketball Association (NBA), driver performance in Formula 1, and team salary cap allocation in both the NBA and National Football League. Furthermore, Dr. Pradhan investigates the impact of athletes and sponsorship initiatives on sports consumption and fan behavior.
A lifelong Bay Area sports fan, he enjoys watching the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers, and San José Sharks. As a fan of the game, you might also catch him rooting for the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles. Naturally, he also supports the athletic programs of his alma maters, particularly THE University of Michigan Wolverines (Go Blue!) and San José State University Spartans.
